Microsoft to provide 15GB free OneDrive storage

It’s a good news to all the Microsoft OneDrive and Office 365 users. The Software giant, Microsoft announced that it will begin offering 15GB of free storage to its OneDrive users. The existing Home, Personal, University or Business subscribers of OneDrive will be automatically upgraded from their 7GB free plan to 15GB for free.

This strategic move from Microsoft might have been planned with the aim to bring OneDrive in line with its biggest rival, Google Drive, which also offers 15GB of free space. Other cloud storage service providing rivals such as Apple's iCloud and DropBox don't offer nearly as much complimentary storage, giving the software giant Microsoft and the search giant Google an edge over other service providing rivals.

Microsoft also said that within the next few months, Office 365 users will get 1TB of free space, up from 20GB. This generous 1TB cap was previously reserved for Office 365's business users only.

Additional storage plans for OneDrive have also been slashed by 70 percent, with their new monthly prices strategically marked at $1.99 for 100 GB (cheaper by almost 73% from the previous $7.49) and $3.99 for 200 GB (down by almost 65% from the previous $11.49). It has also announced the introduction of a new Personal Office 365 subscription plans for individuals and a Home plan for families that complements its multi-user business subscriptions.

The cloud storage expansion is one of the several recent initiatives from the Redmond Company that has encouraged customers to switch to use Microsoft's Office platform.
Recently, Microsoft also introduced its Office suite to the iPad with tablet friendly versions of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Apple is also planning to expand its cloud storage services alongside iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite with the launch of iCloud Drive. Apple is yet to announce its complete details on the plans and the pricing of the iCloud Drive storage.
Tentatively, its plan includes a minimum 5GB storage for free, 20 GB for $0.99/month, and 200 GB for $3.99/month

Switch on the automatic upload feature if you haven't done yet and enjoy the OneDrive's extended storage feature...
I am pretty sure you'll now have enough space for all your stuff.
