Amazing Folder Tips and Tricks

Welcome CyboBytesies to the amazing section of Folder Techniques Part II.
In one of my previous posts, I had discussed a few tricks that can be performed on files and folders in any PC running Microsoft Windows. The tricks included were

1. Create an icon with no name

2. Make an invisible icon

3. Hide file or folder

4. Password protect files and folders without any softwares

In this post I have included a few more tricks on Folders along with the techniques to perform them.

Hide File or Folder icon:

Hiding important and personnel files and folders is a simple way of protecting them from loss of data or misuse. It's actually quite difficult to securely hide a folder in Windows without risking problems in the operating system itself. There are a number of commercial third party softwares for hiding files and folders but they end up being uninstalled.
In this guide I shall show you a simple magic trick to hide files and folders.

1) Select folder and right click on it and click on properties.
2) Select customize tab and then change icon option.
3) Small window will appear you will see different icons there. Now select the 13th icon in 2nd row or in 3rd row or in 4th row. Or select 14th icon in 1st row.


4) Our folder icon is no more visible.

To hide folders use both the above mentioned methods (icon without any name and hide folder icon).

This method is different from the usual method of hiding files and folders using the Microsoft Windows attribute option in the following ways:

1) The icon hidden using the above mentioned method does not show up even when the windows explorer is set to display hidden files and folders.


2) This icon occupies an area unlike the ones with hidden property.

Colorize Folders with Different Colors in Microsoft Windows:

The folders in any version of Microsoft Windows are yellowish in color by default making the appearance a bit dull and monotonous. In this guide I shall describe a small windows trick by which you can assign your desired color to each folder. This will not only help you customize Windows but will also help you to arrange them in an organized manner.
This technique is very much useful especially if you have a large number of folders in any location. Colorizing them in an organized manner will help you search and navigate through folders easily.

Requirements:

1) PC running Microsoft Windows
2) Download Folder Colorizing tool, a third party application to colorize folders

Technique:

1) Download "Folder Colorize" which is a third party tool used to assign colors to Folders in Windows. Note: Installing this Folder Colorizing tool, will integrate "Folder Colorizer" in the context menu of your PC.

2) Navigate to the location which contains the folder you wish to colorize.

3) Right click on the targeted folder and you will find the "Folder Colorize" option integrated on the Context Menu.

4) Using the mouse pointer hover upon the "Folder Colorize" and then choose your desired color you wish to assign to that folder.





5) Repeat the same steps on other folders too.
Done…You have successfully spiced up the looks of your PC.

Add "Copy to" and "Move to" options for every file or folders in Context Menu:

Adding "Copy to" and "Move to" to your Context Menu (on every objected right click) makes it convenient to manage and handle file locations. By default Microsoft Windows does not provide these options. Having the two options on every context menu will allow single click movement of files and folders to various locations in your PC than the usual methodology of selecting the file or folder and place it (move or copy) in to the targeted location.
In this post I shall guide you to have the two important options in the context menu of your PC. A simple registry tweak will help to accomplish our aim to add them by ourselves.

Requirements:

1) A PC running Microsoft Windows
2) Download the registry file from here

Technique:

Method 1: the easy one

1) Double click on the .reg file downloaded from the above step.

2) Click Run when prompted to and yes to the following message boxes.

Method 2: advanced method

1) Open up the Run box (Win + R)

2) Type "regedit.exe" and hit enter.

3) On the left pane navigate to the following location: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AllFilesystemObjects\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers

4) Right click on "ContextMenuHandlers" on the left pane and create a "New -> Key".

5) Copy and paste {C2FBB630-2971-11D1-A18C-00C04FD75D13} as its name and restart your PC.

Done…
Now the "Copy to" and "Move To" options have been added to your context menu. Right click on any file or folder to find the option.
